Finding Ways LLC
Therapy
I work over telehealth with individuals that are LGBTQIA+ (while they may or may not identify as being a part of this "community", for ease of description, I use this acronym). Often people come to me with depression, trauma, anxiety, relationship issues, and eating disorders. They want to live with less shame and more ease throughout their days and lives. They want to be able to feel safe, seen, heard, and understood as much as possible. I am passionate about serving these marginalized folks and acknowledge intersectionality of various identities within each individual. Through a compassionate, person-centered, narrative, and constructionist lens, I help people unpack what is at the root of their pain and hardships. We untangle wild life together and rebuild new neural pathways that can help construct a new path forward. My main modalities for doing such are through Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Narrative Therapy, social constructionist and harm reduction lenses as well as somatic interventions. My work with folks is from a psycho-social-spiritual-environmental perspective. Often there are narratives embedded in their bodies and minds that, if re-written, through a compassionate use of the integrative skills that I offer, in addition to acknowledging external impacts and resources, these narratives can change the ways clients relate to themselves and the world in beneficial and healing ways.

Supervision
As a Social Worker, I know how valuable it is to make sure you have support in the work that we do. My supervision centers the experiences of the clients, while also focusing on the effects on and experience of the provider.
I believe that a good therapeutic relationship is the foundation for meaningful work, and often can be the bulk of the work itself, as so much trauma is relational. I value working from a client-centered, harm reductionist approach, and work to acknowledge and decrease the inherent power dynamics that are present.
My framework is heavily focused on deconstruction, harm reduction, client-centered, and trauma informed practices. For me this means questioning how and why we are engaging with our work, our environment, and our clients the way that we are. Using this information, we can better understand the dynamics at play and decide how we want to interact with them in the most supportive ways possible, while potentially challenging our own biases and feelings to move towards growth. I provide psychoeducation, neuroscience information, somatic tools, and general support through reflection, compassion, and a strengths-based approach to help folks better understand what might be happening for their clients and themselves inside and outside of session.
My client-centered and harm reduction lenses go hand-in hand. I feel that when you meet people where they are at, trust is built in a way that allows them to be able to move forward from a place of authenticity. Therefore, finding ways to decrease harm by use of compassion and compromise, often yields more sustainable outcomes. I work with supervisee's to try to understand where this line is for their clients and how to sit in the discomfort that may cause for both of them at times, along with how to create safety plans when needed. I feel what often helps my supervisee's most is supporting them in their feelings that come up about the work, so that they can feel more able and confident in the work they are doing. My main modality in my own work is EMDR mixed with narrative therapy tools and internal resourcing work. These will be the main tools I reference when supporting supervisee’s.
I love working with folks who are interested in working to find their voice and confidence in sessions, as well as someone who is willing to be open and vulnerable about their own process of the work.

Consulting
Sometimes we need support in a specific area of our practice to better help either one, or many, of our clients. If committing to a supervision relationship is not feeling right to you, but you would like support in learning more about how to work with clients with eating disorders, or specifically queer and trans folks with eating disorders, you may consider some time in consultation with me!
Please reach out to me via phone or email to discuss the topics and cases in which you would like more support with, and we can decide together if working with one another will benefit you and your practice moving forward.
